Rolyn Barthelman

ARTIST STATEMENT

Utilizing a unique combination of traditional (watercolor, acrylic, pastel, charcoal, ink, collage) and non-traditional mediums (fabric, acetone image transfer, found objects), my work explores a world in a constant state of transition. Carrying a propulsive or explosive quality, the pieces often channel forces of apparent chaos, ultimately revealing an enduring beauty that transcends these evolutionary shifts. I seek to capture the humbling wonder of scale, positioning humanity as both an ephemeral fragment of the living world and the incidental witness to these fleeting, miraculous events. Ultimately, each work serves as tangible evidence of a momentary collision of forces, sweeping the viewer into a shared rhythm of momentum and change.
